Details

This map of Cape Town Harbour, in Table Bay on the Cape Peninsula, is a modern and detailed map that focuses on the harbour and its adjacent neighbourhoods and iconic landmarks. These include the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront,  the Foreshore,  the Container Terminal, the CBD and City Bowl, Green Point, District 6, Woodstock, Salt River and Paarden Eiland. All road and rail infrastructure is shown.

This map is an original creation by our design studio, Africa Map Art, and is based on data from various up-to-date sources.  Our default paper choice is the high quality 210gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish, which achieves excellent colour and resolution which is perfect for framing.  A 260gsm satin photo paper is also available for those who prefer a different texture and finish.  We welcome personalisation and customisation requests, such as highlighting of specific buildings or features, adjusting the colour scheme, or the addition of text and images.  Please contact us for a quote.

Cape Town Harbour’s history is deeply intertwined with the city's origins as a crucial refreshment station for the Dutch East India Company in 1652. The natural bay was often dangerous, and a series of severe storms led to the construction of a breakwater in 1860 and docks later in the 19th century, marking the beginning of a safe, year-round harbour. The discovery of diamonds and gold in the interior of South Africa further spurred its expansion and it played a strategic role in both World Wars. Today, the harbour is a major commercial port and a vital hub for South Africa's fruit export industry. Set against the backdrop of the Table Mountain and with the cruise terminal and historic Alfred and Victoria Basins now forming the world-renowned V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Harbour is one of the most visited tourist destinations in southern Africa.
