Struisbaai | Mono

This map of Struisbaai, located in the Western Cape, is a modern and detailed map that focuses on this coastal town and its surrounding landmarks. Struisbaai lies on the southernmost coastline of Africa, adjacent to Cape Agulhas, overlooking the Indian Ocean with its long white sandy beaches, sheltered harbour and rocky shoreline. This print includes nearby landmarks such as the Cape Agulhas National Park, the Agulhas Lighthouse and the historic fishing harbour, with the surrounding fynbos and agricultural landscapes extending inland. The town is known for its working fishing harbour, abundant marine life, whale watching and one of the longest uninterrupted sandy beaches in South Africa. All of the buildings and the road infrastructure are shown.

Struisbaai developed as a small fishing settlement, with its history closely linked to the rich fishing grounds of the southern Cape and the nearby shipping route around Cape Agulhas. The origin of the town's name is uncertain, although it is commonly believed to derive from the Dutch word struis, meaning "large", in reference to the broad beaches or the large ostriches once found in the area. Over time Struisbaai grew into an important fishing community, particularly for line fish, while also becoming a popular holiday destination because of its beaches, harbour and proximity to the southernmost tip of the African continent. Today the town retains its traditional fishing character alongside a thriving tourism industry centred on its natural beauty and maritime heritage.

Data for this map has been compiled from various up-to-date sources including from the OpenStreetMap contributors. The map is available in a selection of styles and on the following two paper options and canvas: a high quality 210gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish, which achieves excellent colour and resolution and is perfect for framing;  a 260gsm photo paper with a smooth satin finish;  and a 350gsm strengthened canvas. All of the options are shipped in a cardboard roll for protection. The canvas is unstretched and unframed.
