Details

This map of the Midmar Dam, located in KwaZulu-Natal, is a modern and detailed map that focuses on this important dam and its surrounding landmarks. These features include the uMgeni River which feeds the dam, the town of Howick and the Howick Falls in the north east and the Nelson Mandela Capture Site at top of the map. All of the surrounding road and rail infrastructure is shown including the N3 freeway across the north east corner of the map.

This map is an original creation by our design studio at Africa Map Art and is based on data from various up-to-date sources.  Our default paper choice is the high quality 210gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish, which achieves excellent colour and resolution which is perfect for framing.  A 260gsm satin photo paper is also available for those who prefer a different texture and finish.  We welcome personalisation and customisation requests, such as highlighting of specific buildings or features, adjusting the colour scheme, or the addition of text and images.  Please contact us for a quote.

Midmar Dam, located on the uMgeni River near Howick, was constructed in 1965 to provide water for municipal and industrial use in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The dam has a capacity of 235,400 cubic metres and has become a major recreational hub and is home to the world-famous Midmar Mile, an annual open-water swimming race. While its primary function remains water supply, the dam has played an important role in the region's tourism and sporting life, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
