William Faden’s Old World Eastern Hemisphere (1798) presents Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia for classroom use. It shows Australia as a single, undivided landmass (Tasmania not yet separated) and omits New Zealand entirely. This reflects both the educational simplification of the Atlas Minimus Universalis and the timing of late 18th-century discoveries, which had not yet fully filtered into small school atlases.
This map is a reproduction of an antique map, sourced from the public-domain and selected for its aesthetic appeal and historical interest. The map has been digitally enhanced and printed on our high quality 220gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish. The excellent colour and resolution is perfect for framing. Default paper - Our default paper for the old maps is high quality 230gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish. A matte finish best represents the original map and the excellent colour and resolution is perfect for framing.
Printing - We use pigment-based inkjet printing technology to achieve gallery-quality results. Unlike standard dyes, pigment inks offer exceptional colour accuracy, crisp detail, and archival longevity, so your artwork retains its vibrance over time.
Shipping + Returns
- Turnaround time is important to you (and to us). Each product is printed on demand so that you receive a brand new print instead of one that has been sitting on a shelf. This leads to production times that will vary, but orders will typically be shipped out within 2-6 business days with longer wait times occurring during the busy holiday periods.
- All of our maps are carefully packaged & delivered in a firm cardboard tube.
